You're Invited:
The one where you receive a book in the mail that you are SO excited to read, and then it sits on your kitchen counter for a whole week before you finally move it to your shelf of other lonely unread books? And it's the book that you are certain will help you change the world, step into your best self, all that jazz....
You are reading a book about social change, community organizing, data, or something else that is just sooooo good you wished you had others to share it with?!?! You're evolving and making huge mental breakthroughs, while your partner is watching Netflix and your colleagues are running around...whomp whomp.
Introducing:
The Collective Shift Book Club (CSBC) is a place to build community and make connections with other changemakers, deepen your learning on topics related to social change, and collectively work through approaches and challenges in social impact work (oh! and have some fun too!).
Be the first to know when we launch!
You've got questions? We've got answers...in progress!
The Collective Shift Book Club (CSBC) is a place to build community and make connections with other changemakers, deepen your learning on topics related to social change, and collectively work through approaches and challenges in social impact work (oh! and have some fun too!).
We invite all folks who are committed to, working in, or curious about the social impact space or in making a difference in the world by changing current systems.
We invite lifelong learners who are excited to connect with a community of folks committed to solving issues like poverty, healthcare, housing, hunger, education, workforce, access to opportunity, and more. If you are already aware that there are huge inequities within each of those areas and that those inequities are almost always based on race, ethnic identity, and zip code, then you’re in the right place!
If you’re still learning that fact, we welcome your willingness to learn (and hope you’re doing your homework outside of the book club also)!
We will be reading books focused on social change, community organizing, adaptive leadership, racial equity, leadership, and more.
Every book we choose will align with the work we do at The Collective Shift Co., where we believe we need to build a culture that takes collective responsibility for universal human well-being.
We will create a facilitated space that focuses on connection and learning. Don’t worry - it won’t be a free-for-all - but you’ll also get plenty of opportunity to share, listen, and reflect!
This space will be rooted in TCSC’s values:
We prioritize people.
We think systematically.
We value different.
We embrace change.
We create legacies.
CSBC will meet weekly for four weeks for the first time around. We’ll pick a book, split it into four sections, and create space over four weeks to connect, reflect, and learn.
Meetings for the first time will take place in the evenings, and we’ll attempt to accommodate all continental US timezones. We’ll test and experiment over the first few rounds to find the right day and time.
By joining the waitlist, you’re just indicating that you’re interested in the book club as a whole! We’ll email you when we launch the first book, and you’re welcome to join or wait for the next round.
When you sign up for a round, you’re invited to all four sessions of the book club - but by no means obligated to attend all. We know that conflicts will arise, and there is no perfect time for everyone. We’ll experiment in the first few rounds of book club to see what works best.
The book will be split into four sections, and each week we’ll remind you of what to read. You’ll be invited to join all four sessions, and we hope you’ll join all - or at least one!
We invite and encourage you to bring at least one topic, quote, or question you’re thinking about and want to connect on with others.
If you haven’t had a chance to read the section, we invite you to still join and participate in the discussion. We also acknowledge that the richer the preparation, the richer the discussion, so please keep that in mind when deciding whether to attend!
Join the waitlist! You'll be first in the know.
